Exactly what I've been thinking, regarding blues.... What about the case of the blues, Southern by origin, developing into electrified, Chicago (Northern) blues? Now, of course there is the fact that a Southern musician brought the blues to the North...but it certainly became a whole new genre tied to a specific location. It certainly says something about the mobile/transient nature of music - which is one of the things we love about it, right?
